Sentek has tapped the decades of experience our experts possess with world class C4ISR systems and developed the next generation of C4ISR solutions for our domestic and international clients. By replicating the capabilities of best of breed C4ISR systems using Open Source software and COTS hardware modules, Sentek is able to offer our clients cost-effective, secure, C4ISR solutions that meet their needs and provide the latest and most effective capabilities for military and disaster assistance requirements.
Sentinel C4ISR Suite
Today’s global economy has prompted militaries and other resource managers to seek low-cost, open architecture, high-speed command and control (C2) solutions that offer the full capability spectrum from high-level command visibility to tactical control. Complete vertical integration across strategic, operational, and tactical functionality is a key ingredient in this arena.
Sentek Global offers a three-part C2 solution with the Sentinel product suite:
In this increasingly net-centric world, the trusted network component provides the kind of information security customers demand for sensitive operations. Designed around the customer’s information assurance needs and customized to their existing security policies, this component is vital in providing bulletproof operational security.
At the strategic-to-operational level, the Sentinel server system offers a rich set of capabilities including strategic planning and Course Of Action (COA) development support, information gathering and analysis, and secure collaboration and communications. From an operational perspective, Sentinel provides force management and organization, attribute tracking including readiness and training, and integration into logistics and supply. At a tactical level, the system supplies a radio interoperability capability that fuses any communication device on any waveform. At all levels, users can utilize a Common Operational Picture (COP) (which improves situational awareness and enhances operational and decision making), secure real-time chat, secure email, and other execution management tools. The system includes integration with ground- and satellite-based sensor and UAV systems, allowing for both map-based Blue Force Tracking (BFT) visualization and real-time visual “eyes on” the tactical battlefield, as well as integrating disparate tactical radio and commercial cell phone systems into a cohesive communication infrastructure.
The Sentinel server system’s vertical integration is crucial for a smooth flow of information in a timely fashion across the functionality layers and over the entire technology stack. Based upon a solid foundation of open source software, Sentek Global has created a layered product offering that is low cost, retains high flexibility, and avoids vendor lock-in by adhering to open standards. Its modular, SOA-enabled architecture follows industry best practices and allows for interoperability with a customer’s legacy systems or any other military or government system with which the customer desires interconnection.
The Sentinel product suite’s training function educates the customer’s key personnel in a myriad of crucial planning and execution aspects including full operational planning cycle processes, mission analysis, COA analysis/evaluation/comparison/selection, order development, transition to execution, after-action reporting/review, and organizational learning. This type of training is exactly what a customer needs to bring their staff into full competency in military planning and execution.
Sentinel Airport Security System (SASS)
For our international clients, Sentek developed an Airport Security System designed to collect biometric data on airport travelers to be matched against a centralized database of criminals and terrorists.
The system’s features include:
Sentinel Blue Force Tracking System (BFTS)
Sentek’s Blue Force Tracking System (Sentinel BFTS), part of the Sentinel C4ISR Suite, was developed to assist an international client with tracking small boats used for maritime interdiction operations. The client had the requirement to track the location and status of their vessels in order to ensure the security of the vessels and personnel.
Sentek developed its BFTS using COTS and open source technology in order to minimize cost to the client while leveraging existing technologies.
The Sentinel BFTS features include:
Sentinel Radio Interoperability System (RIOS)
The Sentinel Radio Interoperability System (RIOS) allows users of non-compatible voice and signaling systems to communicate together regardless of format, frequency, or physical distance. With RIOS, military, law enforcement, public safety, and federal agencies have the ability to create powerful, easy-to-use emergency-response and tactical communications networks by interconnecting their existing communication resources.
RIOS interoperability packages range from standalone interoperability kits to enterprise networks. All RIOS Servers operate as standalone and/or wide-area interoperability servers with the ability to patch, monitor, record, alert, playback, control and dispatch to locally interfaced communication systems as well as systems connected across an IP network.
Whether you’re seeking tactical, mobile, local, or wide-area enterprise “system of systems” solutions, Sentek can design, build, and support a RIOS system tailored to the unique communication requirements of your organization.
Mobile Thin Client Solution for U.S. Navy (MTC)
The Mobile Thin Client (MTC) is designed to put mobile computing power in the hands of 'edge' users that work on the public Internet but need to access classified networks. A challenge for U.S. Navy Recruiters has been protecting their mobile devices which contain sensitive data from network security threats pervading socialnetworking sites on the public Internet as well as physical security threats such as theft of the device. The nature of their job requires them to operate in the high-risk environment that social networking sites represent while reaching back to sensitive resources on classified networks – all the while absolutely protecting those resources from intrusion or disclosure. The end users for MTC spend fully 90% of their efforts in public spaces and on public networks, while constantly requiring access to classified network applications with heightened authentication requirements.
To resolve the challenge, Sentek aggregated leading-edge technologies including application virtualization and “thin application” streaming and delivery, sophisticated encryption, and endpoint security via browser hardening. These solutions allowed edge users to connect to thin client applications via browser-based SSL as well as run full applications when in offline or disconnected mode.
Sentek worked with the newest technology in the smallest devices called Ultra Mobile Personal Computers (UMPCs) to build, integrate, and test applications to provide the ability for end users operate in a mobile, wireless environment in both connected and disconnected scenarios. The secure solutions successfully allow the users of the UMPCs to safely access dual factor, smart card-protected government web sites as well as public social networking sites.
